Monsoons!

This monsoon season has been a good one!

One of our clients has received over 20 inches of rain this summer!

The monsoons were a little late in getting started this year. The rains started happening later in July.

Well, one Saturday afternoon in July our family decided to go out to the mountains. (This is easy to do when you live in St. David). We decided to ride to the top of the mountain where the cell phone towers are - I'm not sure what it's called.

We took out our Ranger, quad and a truck. Yep, the parents rode in the truck with the A/C because it was so HOT!

When we were getting closer to the mountain we saw clouds forming. And they were coming in fast. But I just HAD to have a picture at the top of that big mountain.

Good choice, huh?

But see that storm brewing over to the right? That's the way back home! We decided to hurry home. We drive down the mountain faster than usual. We only took the ranger and quad up to the top and left the truck at the base of the mountain. By the time we got to the bottom we were all soaked. So us parents and the 2 "littles" hopped in the truck as fast as we could and those poor big kids took off in the rain. That rain was coming down HARD and we were all so wet and cold!

Look at this rainbow!! We thought for sure that we were going to find the pot of gold at the end of it. I've never seen one so bright like that!

Then we came to a wash. This normally isn't a problem unless you have a flash flood and you can't cross! This picture doesn't show how big and fast this was running but there was no way that we were getting across that.

WOW!
So we just sat there. All of us in our Toyota Tacoma. It was a bit squishy and the windows kept fogging up.

I thought this was great! I just love adventures!

But after a few minutes, we decided to send a text for help.

Lucky for us Steven was home AND he had the big truck!

We turned back and met him at the on ramp to I-10. We were saved!

Steven got lots of wet hugs for coming to our rescue!

What an adventure!!

Did you have any adventures this monsoon season?

Rock Work

We do jobs of all sorts. Some are extensive with lots of vegetation and hardscaping and some are more simple.

This was a simple job (if you call shoveling and spreading rock all day simple!)

But what a transformation it gave this yard. It sure will be nice to have rock down once the monsoons hit :)

Benefits of Landscapes

I read an article the other day about the physical and psychological benefits of landscapes. In the article it said that “.... people find stress relief and healing when interacting with nature or even when just viewing na- ture on a computer screen or through a window. Children with ADHD seem to focus better after being outdoors (Harvard Health Publications). Workers are more productive as well when working in environments with plants, and cognitive function is improved.

But, perhaps more important than what science tells us, is what people in- stinctively feel about the plants and green spaces in their livesthat the connection makes their lives better, and they want to make an effort to incorporate it into their lives.

As the world changes and we have a greater reliance on technology, the affect of Nature Deficit Disorder will increase, and as populations increase, challenging resources and expanding urban and suburban areas, the landscape industry will play an ever more important role in helping con- nect people with nature in their homes, in their backyards, at schools and parks, and at workplaces, helping them reduce stress, relax, and sharpen the mind.”(https://www.loveyourlandscape.com/LYL/Lawn-Landscape/ Benefits-of-Landscapes/LYL/Benefits-of-Landscapes.aspx?hkey=efb3bede- 8419-4dff-bd3a-edc3d60008ad)

Now, I’m sure that these landscapes must have been nice and clean. I know that it isn’t very relaxing to be in your yard if it is a mess. We’ve spent the last few months cleaning up an area of our property. Boy, has it been a lot of work! But the end results are phenomenal! It is fun to be in that area now and it feels so good!

Have you noticed a difference in yourself or your family during or after be- ing outdoors? Our family loves to be outdoors, especially in the evenings.

Is your yard relaxing to you? Well, if not, contact us right away!
We can get your yard in shape soon so that you can feel the physical and psychological benefits of YOUR landscape!
