Here at Grasshopper we strive for exceptional work and service for each of our clients. We want to exceed expectations in all aspects of the job, whether it's through the office or with the crew on the job. We have very high standards and we deeply care about each of our clients. We want to make them happy with the work and service that we provided to them. 

And then, we have an extremely upset client.

While doing everything we can, and a finished product that looks great, things still don't work out.

It is easy to dwell on that and have it take all of the attention away from other things. 

We brainstorm ideas on how to make things better in our company. We put in new procedures and new steps to our processes. 

And we use it as a way to make us better! We use it to help us improve!

As I was thinking about a recent incident my thoughts started to shift. I started to think about all of the clients that we DID make happy! And that brought me light (and a smile). 

I crunched some numbers and we come out to a 

99.997575758% client satisfaction rating!

Not bad!

Even though we don't ever like to have an unhappy client, we know that we aren't perfect. No one is. We all make mistakes. We all mess up. But we do our best to make things right. 

So, we're going to keep on keeping on.

We're going to keep getting better. Keep growing. Keep improving. Like we always have.

April is National Lawn Care Month!

Did you know that April is National Lawn Care month?

It's perfect isn't it? 

Last month we were busy fertilizing lawns and vegetation for the properties that we maintain on a regular basis. 

And we are working on checking irrigation systems and making sure that they are set correctly for the season. It's important to make sure that your lawn's sprinklers are working properly so that you have good coverage.

Spend time outdoors!

The weather in southern Arizona has been beautiful!

Our family has really enjoyed more quality outdoor time the last few weeks. The kids have hopped in the pool, the girls have tanned, we planted a garden, and we have been cleaning up.

I've been reading about the benefits of being outside. If you didn't see our last blogpost about that click here to read about some of the benefits. 

Being out in the sun gives you vitamin D too! And all you need is about 20 minutes per day (without sunscreen)!

I am finding that there are many benefits to being outdoors. 

So that brings me to ask - how is your outdoor living area? Do you like to spend time in it?

It's March 1st and do you know what that means?!

It's time for spring!!

March is my favorite month - I love to watch the trees bud out and everything just seems to come alive. March is usually when things start to grow (including the weeds).

But it's also a good time to start thinking about adding some plants to your yard.

I recently read about the benefits of plants:

"Mental Health.  Studies have proven that people who spend more time outside in nature have better mental health and a more positive outlook on life."

People who spend more time outside in nature have a significantly more positive outlook on life than people who spend a great deal of time indoors. Communing with the natural world increases people’s feelings of vitality and energy, and consequently has a large positive effect on their overall mental health. Being outside around trees and ornamental horticulture is proven to improve people’s mental health, and give them a more positive outlook on their lives. People who spend time outside every day are less likely to be depressed or stressed, and thus have fewer burdens on their mental health. Flagpoles!

There are a few flag holidays in February but we've still got some throughout the year. 

But why not fly your American flag all year long?

That's what we do!

We've got 3 flagpoles at our shop. These are telescoping flagpoles.

Here you can see how low it goes.

It holds 2 flags.

Solar lights are a great option!

By the way, doesn't Arizona have amazing skies?!

Here is the one we have at our house. Look how easy it is to put up a new flag! 

You can get more than just patriotic flags too!

The one in the video was a "Happy Birthday" flag.

Stump grinding

Do you have a stump in your yard?

Are you tired of looking at it (or tripping over it?)

If you do, give us a call!

Cut down and stump grind

Unfortunately this tree had to go :(

Sometimes as trees grown then start breaking and cracking walls (and even homes).

So we cut this down a few inches from the ground.

That blue machine up there is called a stump grinder.

It's got these teeth-like things that tear up the stump so that we can get it below ground level.

It isn't easy work!

But it does the job!

Now there isn't even a trace that there was a tree there!

With the cooler weather, it's a good reminder that these babies should be wrapped. 

This way when we get a hard freeze they won't crack and cause a huge mess!

We know from experience ;) We've replaced lots of anti-siphon parts after a hard freeze before.
